Sergei Rachmaninoff

Coming soon: II Volume of Rachmaninoff's Complete Works for Piano Solo (double CD), performed by Tatiana Pavlova.

The record is part of a work which began in 1992, and represents one of the artist's most important goals, as S. Rachmaninoff is her main reference point and source of inspiration. The I Volume (double CD) was released in 2005 on the Portuguese label Numérica.

Monoduetto

After her intense research into the typical rhythms of Middle Eastern music, along with the study of the doumbek, Tatiana Pavlova conceived the idea of a monoduetto, in which she played the piano and the doumbek at the same time, in a fascinating exhibition of coordination and virtuosity.

Having spent most of her professional life as a concert pianist, she is aware of the advantages and limits of the freedom accomplished by being alone on the stage. With her monoduetto, Tatiana Pavlova enhanced the range of her interpretative possibilities, becoming the only performer in the world to use the piano and the doumbek in her repertoire.

Modern audio technology has offered infinite, often surreal, possibilities to the recording industry, although it has also led to a loss of authenticity and credibility in general. For this reason, Tatiana Pavlova had chosen to present her monoduetto during her concerts and live recordings only. She considers it her personal mission to carry on the tradition of the performing composers of the nineteenth century, by restoring not only the union between composition and performance that had become split during the twentieth century, but also retrieving this lost artistic authenticity.
